David Butterworth is an experienced freelance music arranger who offers a wide range of services for composers and producers of 'commercial music'; from scores for film and television productions, advertising campaign jingles and idents, through to tracks recorded by classical crossover, pop and jazz artists. Recent credits include The Incredible Hulk (Craig Armstrong), Wild Child (Michael Price), Made Of Honor (Rupert Gregson-Williams), and The Golden Compass (Alexandre Desplat). Educated at the University of Salford (BA Hons) and Bristol University (MA) he was privileged to study composition and arranging with: Gil Evans aficionado, Robin Dewhurst; award-winning film composer, Martin Kiszko; and renowned musician and academic, Adrian Beaumont. Initially, he gained industry experience working as a music copyist for Bristol-based compsers James Barrett and Dan Jones. After recording his own orchestral music with the City of Prague Philharmonic in 2001 he was asked to orchestrate the score for the feature film Phoenix Blue and has since established himself as a member of the younger generation of orchestral arrangers based in the UK. David is currently working on: demos for Howard Goodall's forthcoming musical, Love Story.
